Funders
Youth Net Peel is funded by the United Way of Peel Region and the
Region of Peel.
The Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch and the Centre for
Addiction and Mental Health brought the Youth Net program to Peel with
pilot funding from the United Way. Recognizing its innovative
philosophy and operating approach, a truly “by youth, for youth”
program, United Way has continued to fund the program since 1999.
A three-year Community Programs Funding grant provides Youth Net with
55% of its annual funding. The grant ends December 31, 2009.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation was an integral partner in sustaining
the program following the completion of the pilot. Without this
funding, Youth Net would have been at half its capacity. The Trillium
grant was critical to the continuing development of the program and
its services.
Youth Net would be happy to receive donations to the program. The
current operating year has counted on $3,000 in donations, so any
amount is appreciated.
Donations
For every $50 contributed, a youth can be paid to work with 8 to 12
youth in a Pens & Paints creative
arts discussion or a focus group. In both cases, the facilitator is
also available to provide one-on-one support as needed.
For every $100 donated, supplies can be purchased for two of eight
sessions in a Pens & Paints series for 12 youth.
The average cost of a presentation for 25 youth is $65.00.
For $30, an average size class of youth can each receive a Quick Guide
to Mental Health Services with a supply of 25 also left for the
school.
The total supplies cost of a Pens & Paints series (8 sessions x 12
youth) is $400.
