REBOUND Choices Program is a positive mentoring
program for youth 12 – 18 years old, delivered by community
volunteers. The aim is to support young people and provide
opportunities to practice life and social skill development,
with an emphasis on substance abuse education and drug
resistance skills. Youth and families are connected to
appropriate community supports, information and services.
What are the major benefits?
- The Choices Program is delivered by
volunteers who believe in the REBOUND philosophy
that every youth is entitled to receive positive
supports in the community to reach their full
potential.
- A 10 week program that participants attend
one night per week. Youth are provided with a
safe place to practice skills that will have
positive impact on their family relationships,
peer interactions and school performance.
- REBOUND Choices offers coordination of
services and referrals to other community
support services for youth and families, and
works in partnership with various community
agencies.
- The program is delivered using lively,
interactive and interesting methods. Through
small and large group discussions, activities,
games and guest speakers, REBOUND Choices offers
youth a chance to have fun, meet new people and
learn valuable skills!

Volunteer Information:
The success of the REBOUND Choices Program is based on the
continued commitment and dedication of community volunteers.
Volunteer coaches are positive role models for our youth
participants and vital in the success of the program. CMHA Peel
Branch provides orientation, trainings and supervision to all
volunteer coaches.
Who can volunteer?
Adults who enjoy interacting with high energy youth make great
volunteers. Our volunteers come from all walks of life; however,
they share certain qualities that promote respect, trust and a
youth-friendly attitude.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older, and are required to
complete a criminal background check, as well as provide a
minimum of two references.
What is a youth-friendly attitude?
Having a youth-friendly attitude means that you genuinely enjoy
being around young people. You have a friendly, flexible,
non-judgemental approach when talking with youth, and you want
to make a positive impact in their lives. If these sound like
qualities you have; and you would like more information about
helping to build a brighter future for our community’s young
people, please contact the REBOUND Choices Program Co-ordinator,
Julia Umbrio at 905-451-1718 ext. 342.
