Books

Books make up most of our collection. They include biographies, autobiographies, workbooks, self-help, information-giving, etc. Some are technical; others aren’t. The wide range of books available means that something is likely to meet your needs and interest.

Audiovisual

We have over 100 audiovisual items, the majority of which are video tapes. Recently we have begun to acquire a few DVD’s. Videos like Depression: Fighting the Dragon inform the viewer about mental illness; others like Girl, Interrupted and A Beautiful Mind inform by entertaining.

Reference Materials

We have over 20 reference books that can be reviewed on-site but may not leave the premises. The most popular is the DSM-IV, which stands for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,4th Edition. Published by the American Psychiatric Association it covers all mental health disorders for both children and adults. It also lists known causes of these disorders, statistics in terms of gender, age at onset, and prognosis as well as some research concerning the optimal treatment approaches.

Magazines may be borrowed. There are also several studies, which may be borrowed at the librarian’s discretion.

Our collection is listed in Resource Mate, which is accessed from the Search and Reserve subheading. Should you prefer to view our collection as a PDF, click here to view a list.
