Geranium Sale
The Annual Geranium Sale campaign has been a fixture of CMHA/Peel
Branch since 1986. Volunteers co-ordinate the selling of geraniums
at their place of work or home by taking orders in April and
early May. Other volunteers deliver the plants in mid-May,
in time for planting on the long Victoria Day weekend.
All it takes to be a Volunteer Salesperson is a
willingness to post a flyer, keep track of an order sheet, fax the
sheet in by a specified date, and collect payment prior to
delivery of the plants. On Delivery day your office/agency/home
will be enlivened by lush, vibrant-coloured (red, salmon, light
pink, dark pink and white) 4.5-inch pots of geraniums, which come
from Haase Greenhouses in Brampton.
The 2009 Geranium Sale was a success. More than 30 volunteer
sales and delivery people helped us raise more than $4,000 for
CMHA/Peel.
If you think you might be interested in volunteering to help
sell or deliver plants for the 2010 Annual Geranium Sale, contact Shelagh at 905-451-1718 x 320 or
nuttalls@cmhapeel.ca
Sales people start selling plants at their place of work or
neighbourhood in April/early May and receive delivery on the
Wednesday or Thursday before the long Victoria Day weekend.

Mental Health Week
The first full week in May is Mental Health
Week. This national event gives Canadians an opportunity to
find out the importance of mental health and how to achieve it in
their community.
This year Mental Health Week is
May 3 – 9, 2010 and the slogan is:
Building your mental health: one
support at a time
The 2010 theme targets the importance of
supports to our mental health and their role in building
resilience.
CMHA/Peel is in the process of planning
awareness events in our region. During Mental Health Week we
hope to once again go to three GO stations in Peel Region with
our mascot, Miranda the Mental Health Panda, to hand out Hershey
chocolate HUGs and HUG cards, urging morning commuters to
“Celebrate Mental Health Week! Hug someone you love today.” The
business card-size cards have a panda bear on them, CMHA/Peel
Branch contact information, and a list of 10 mental health tips.
Once plans are finalized we will post them on
our Coming
Up page.

PAR
South Bake Sale and Lunch
Unfortunately there will be no Bake Sale and Lunch in 2009.
The first Wednesday in December from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m, PAR
South Clubhouse hosts a Bake Sale and Lunch. Their slogan is “Let
PAR do your holiday baking for you.” Signature items like yummy
lemon squares, macaroons and preserves get customers coming back
year after year. It’s a chance to welcome the public to the
clubhouse, demonstrate the purpose of the program, and raise
money. Funds raised allow members take advantage of training
outside the Clubhouse, such as international conferences on the
Clubhouse model of rehabilitation.
To pre-order and save 10% contact Nela or Eva at 905-270-6295
or fax: 905-270-8110 or e-mail:
esperasn@cmhapeel.ca.
